New Mexico Resources
Pharmacists in New Mexico may prescribe hormonal contraception (pill, patch, ring, shot, EC, non-hormonal) via statewide protocol to patients of all ages.
The formulary includes oral contraceptives (combined and progestin only), patch, ring, DMPA injection, emergency contraception (excluding IUDs), other FDA-approved hormonal contraception products (excluding implants, IUDs, or other devices requiring surgical training and implantation), and other FDA-approved non-hormonal contraceptive methods (includes over-the-counter and prescription medications).
Training
New Mexico Pharmacist Contraception Services Training Program
This home study training program is approved by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy as required training for pharmacists to prescribe contraception (hormonal and non-hormonal methods) per statewide protocol.
