Indiana Resources

Pharmacists in Indiana may prescribe and dispense self-administered hormonal contraceptives (pill, patch, ring, and subcutaneous shot) to patients 18 and older via statewide protocol.

Update:  the Indiana Board of Pharmacy published the final ruling in April 2026, shifting the policy to a Statewide Protocol with the pharmacist as the prescriber of record.  Indiana pharmacists will no longer use the standing order under the health commissioner.
