Community Standards for Discussion Boards

Community Principles

The mission of the Birth Control Pharmacist Community is to cultivate a welcoming space for pharmacists and other stakeholders to share experiences and perspectives. We strive to foster an environment that encourages open dialogue, active listening, and empathy, ensuring every member feels valued, safe, and empowered to contribute their unique insights. By prioritizing respectful communication, we aim to create a space for meaningful learning, collaboration, and growth for all participants.

Community Policies

  • Protect patient confidentiality: Posting protected health information is not allowed and may result in a ban. Please anonymize cases or scenarios and remove any patient-identifiable information. Discussions should focus on general practices, guidelines, and experiences. Follow the HIPAA Privacy Rule’s De-Identification Standard.
  • Maintain a respectful, professional, and friendly environment: All members are expected to engage respectfully with one another. Personal attacks, hate speech, or discriminatory language based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic will not be tolerated. Posts, comments, or private messages violating the BCP Community content policy will be removed and reported to site administration.
  • No Promotion of Personal Interests: This forum is not a place for promoting personal businesses, products, or services. Discussions should prioritize the well-being of patients and the professional development of pharmacists. If you are interested in recruitment for IRB-approved research purposes from the BCP Community, please contact us at mail@birthcontrolpharmacist.com with “Study Recruitment” in the subject line.
  • Stay on Topic:  Please ensure that discussions remain relevant to the topic of reproductive health (i.e. prescribing birth control, medication abortion, OTC recommendations, STI screening and treatment, etc) and pharmacy practice. Off-topic posts may be removed to keep the forum focused and beneficial for all participants.
  • Evidence-based Sharing: When discussing clinical practices or guidelines, prioritize evidence-based information. Cite credible sources when applicable to enhance the quality of the discussion and support your points. Posts which rely on or reference scientific data (e.g. an announcement about a medical breakthrough) should cite and provide a link to the original research in peer-reviewed journals or respectable news sources as judged by the moderators.
  • Supportive Environment: Encourage an atmosphere of support and learning. Offer constructive feedback and be open to diverse opinions, recognizing that each member brings unique experiences and perspectives to the table.
